Reno Personal Training
So what exactly is personal training?
By the strictest definition, a professional has three criteria: (1) specialized education, usually beyond college; (2) an activity that benefits the community; and (3) a code of conduct or principles designed to protect the community from potential abuse from the profession's members. In order to reach the status of a professional trainer we must concentrate on three primary areas.
1. Specialized Education in the disciplines of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, exercise science, nutrition, and other related sciences.
2. A sincere desire to benefit one's community — call it following a "calling" to commit to the fitness lifestyle and the promote this lifestyle to anyone who comes under the influence of the personal trainer in reno.
3. A strict code of conduct to ensure the highest degree of competence and ethical behavior.
The Process of Reno Personal Training
Personal training really starts the moment someone walks into the fitness center, gym or personal training studio. In fact, some could argue it starts the moment a person conceives the idea to "get in shape" or improve their health. In essence this means that personal training begins BEFORE the individual signs up for any training program. Let's be clear. The primary objective of personal training is to motivate individuals to initiate a fitness program by using the services we provide or by training on their own. Either way, our most important goal as personal trainers in reno is to motivate ourselves and others to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Qualified personal trainers begin their work with individual by first establishing contact. Once contact is made, and rapport is present, the trainer can begin to establish clear goals and interests that the client has. A critical part of this process is determining whether or not these goals and interests are realistic and attainable. Sometimes the personal trainer needs to be remarkably honest with their clients and break down the science, showing some goals are fantasies and not based in reality. Losing 20 pounds in a single workout session is unrealistic. If it was possible, we'd be the highest paid profession in the world! And so the entire program is developed from the point of view that we first determine realistic goals, and develop a path to successfully reaching these goals.
Before beginning any fitness or exercise program, the reno personal trainer needs to assess their clients about his or her medical history, exercise history and dietary history. Establishing health risks and contra-indications early on is part of the job of any fitness professional. Injuries and more serious risks (such as a heart attack) can be avoided by establishing an accurate history. In addition to establishing an accurate medical, exercise and dietary history the personal trainer needs to establish patterns of past successes and failures in exercise and nutrition. Chances are this isn't the clients first attempt at reaching his or her health and fitness goals and it's important to determine what obstacles they faced in the past which proved insurmountable and kept them from reaching their objective.
