Personal Training Certification and Reno

There is a myriad of certifications available today, personal training is no exception. Anyone serious about brining health and fitness to their local community should start on the right foot and pursue certification from qualified agencies that will assist them in achieving their personal training educational goals. Some general guidelines recommended for selecting certification courses include the following:

1. Workshops or certification instructors should have a minimal degree (preferably a Master's or higher) in an exercise science related field.

2. All instructors should have practical knowledge and experience in terms of fitness, health and nutrition.

3. Instructors should be experienced educators.

4. Course materials should be scientifically based, current and applicable to the "real world".

5. The minimum material covered should prepare the participant with information necessary to initiate safe and effective exercise training programs. The topics presented should include, but not be limited to, the following:

a. Muscle physiology

b. Cardiorespiratory physiology

c. Energy metabolism

d. Anatomy

e. Kinesiology

f. Applied exercise science training principles

g. Safety guidelines

h. Ethics and motivation

6. Certifications should require continuing education in order to remain current.

Although certification will not prove superiority in the field of personal training, it does indicate that the train is serious about the field of personal training and his or her career choice. Holding a certification does not guarantee a successful business in personal training, but personal trainers do consider their certification a prelude to achieving success. The best personal trainers hold advanced certifications from multiple organizations.
